It’s a known fact that drinking water daily is crucial for good health for several reasons like to keep your body temperature regulated, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, and keep organs functioning properly. Staying hydrated will simply improve sleep quality, cognition, and mood. However, for the sake of this blog, and keeping with its theme of staying hydrated, what if I told you there are other ways to stay hydrated besides just drinking water. You probably would then ask, “What could be better than water?” Now, that's a great question, but before I go any further with this blog, let me be clear, by no means did I imply or say don’t drink water. For we know that water is needed to power the body. What I am saying is this, God’s holy word keeps you hydrated as well and is very necessary providing the same if not better benefits for body performance, cognitive ability, and mood. So it probably safe to say, God's word fuels your spirit. But the subject is water and hydration so where’s the connection? Did you know that in the Bible there are several references that draw on the Holy Spirit in the image of water. If you are feeding your mind and body by studying and reading his word on a daily basis, living as his word instructs in your daily interactions whether it be personally or professionally, and communicating with him through prayer asking for guidance in all you do then you are keeping you mind, body, and soul hydrated with the Holy Spirit. Maybe you still don’t see the relation and still ask, what does Holy Spirit have to do with water and hydration? Well I’ll tell you. I’ll start by first admitting I am not a preacher or profess to be a bible scholar. What I will admit is, I am very analytical and very confident in saying, yes, the Holy Spirit is associated with water, and of course you probably didn’t see that twist coming, but don’t just take my word for it. When you have some free time look for yourself. For now, in the New Testament, there are instances where it uses water as the image for the Holy Spirit. Even in the book of Numbers 5:17 it talks about holy water and purification, of which we know Baptism and its use of water is a form of purification of the soul. Jesus speaks of living water and water in the Bible represents life. I could go on pointing out places in the Bible to support my position, but to keep this short and sweet my final recommendations for going into this new season of 2022 is that life is a journey some long and some short and its important to stay hydrated. Whether the road you are destined to travel in life is long or short ,stay hydrated in God’s holy word. Doing so is the best preparation for the trip. His word is the smart water needed to power your soul and additional keys to a better life. Don't wait hydrate,
your soul depends on it! Wishing you God’s blessings on your journey. Happy Saturday.
Amen, Connie! Very good analogy.
This is good stuff!
